Gemini is Google's AI chat assistant. It launched as Bard in 2023 and was renamed Gemini in February 2024. It draws on public information from Google Search, analyzes uploaded files (up to 10 per prompt), generates and edits images, and holds live voice conversations through Gemini Live in its Android and iOS apps. It also works on the web.
The free plan includes the Flash-Lite model, image generation, Deep Research, Gemini Live, Canvas and Gems, with a 32k-token context window. Google AI Plus costs $4.99 a month, Google AI Pro $19.99 a month with a 1-million-token context window and 5 TB of storage, and Google AI Ultra $99.99 or $199.99 a month. Businesses can buy Gemini Enterprise Business from $21 per seat a month. With Keep Activity turned off (and no feedback sent), Google does not use your future chats to improve its AI models.
Best for
People who already use Gmail, Docs and Drive and want an assistant tied to Google Search, or the lowest-priced paid upgrade at $4.99 a month.
