ChatGPT is OpenAI's AI chat assistant, first released in November 2022. It answers questions, drafts and edits text, analyzes uploaded files, searches the web with cited sources, creates images and holds spoken conversations in voice mode, on the web, in desktop apps and on iOS and Android.
The Free plan includes unlimited everyday text chats (subject to abuse guardrails) and projects, plus limited uploads, image creation, voice chats and deep research. Go ($8 a month) raises the limits on uploads, image creation and memory, Plus ($20 a month) adds advanced reasoning models and expanded deep research, and Pro comes in $100, $200 and $500 monthly tiers. Teams can use ChatGPT Business at $25 per user a month, or $20 billed annually, with a two-seat minimum. Individual plans let you switch off model training without losing chat history, and OpenAI does not train on Business workspace data by default.
Best for
People who want one assistant for writing, research, images and voice, with room to move from Free to Go, Plus or a Pro tier as their use grows.
