Quillbot, an AI writing assistant, began in 2017 as a Paraphraser built in a college dorm and has been part of Learneo, formerly Course Hero, since 2021. The Paraphraser offers modes such as Formal, Academic, Simple, Expand and Shorten. Alongside it are a grammar checker, AI Humanizer, AI Detector, plagiarism checker, summarizer, citation generator, AI chat, more than 25 single-purpose writing generators, and image and PDF tools.
The free plan paraphrases up to 125 words at a time in two modes. Premium costs $19.95 a month, or $99.95 a year ($8.33 a month), for one user. It removes the Paraphraser's word limit, unlocks all nine modes and Custom modes, and adds 25,000 words of plagiarism checks a month. Team Plans cost $69.95 to $89.95 per seat a year. Quillbot runs in Chrome, Google Docs and Microsoft Word, with apps for macOS, Windows, iOS and Android, but has no API.
Best for
Students, professionals and content creators who mainly rewrite, polish and check their own writing and want a low-cost plan with a plagiarism checker, rather than a marketing content platform.

- No API for developers or businesses, according to Quillbot's help center
- No SEO mode or brand voice profiles: the closest are SEO title and meta description generators and Custom paraphrasing modes
- No Premium trial is listed, and fees are nonrefundable except where the law requires a refund
- Your text is used to train Quillbot's models by default (not on Team Plans); the opt-out is in the browser extension's settings
- Plagiarism checks need Premium and stop at 25,000 words a month unless you buy extra word packs
