Devin Desktop is the new name for Windsurf, the AI code editor Codeium launched in November 2024 and Cognition now develops. The June 2, 2026 rename kept plans, prices, settings and extensions. It is a full IDE with VS Code's interface and Open VSX extensions for macOS, Windows and Linux, with Tab completions, inline edits and an index of your local codebase. Its main view, the Agent Command Center, runs the Devin Local agent and, on Pro, Max and Teams, Devin's cloud agent and third-party agents such as Codex, Claude Agent and Gemini CLI.

Free includes a light daily and weekly quota and limited models. Pro costs $20 a month and Max $200, with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Grok models plus Cognition's SWE models; extra usage past the quota costs API list prices. Teams costs at least $80 a month, with full seats at $40 each.

Best for

Developers who want a VS Code-style AI editor with a free plan, a wide choice of models and one place to run local, cloud and third-party coding agents.

Pros

  • Full IDE with VS Code's interface and Open VSX extensions; imports VS Code or Cursor settings
  • Wide model choice on Pro and higher: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Grok and open models, plus Cognition's SWE models
  • One Agent Command Center for the local agent plus, on Pro, Max and Teams, Devin cloud sessions and ACP agents such as Codex and Claude Agent
  • Free plan with unlimited Tab completions and inline edits, plus local codebase indexing (higher limits on Pro)
  • On Pro, Max and Teams, a linked ChatGPT Go, Plus or Pro plan can pay for GPT model usage instead of your quota

Cons

  • Free has a light quota and limited models; when it runs out you wait for the daily or weekly reset
  • Extra usage past the included quota costs API list prices, and no annual prices are shown
  • Teams costs at least $80 a month, and SSO is Enterprise-only
  • Devin Local, the successor to Cascade, does not support Cascade's memories, workflows, app deploys or arena mode
  • Your data may be used for model training by default; only paid plans can opt out (on Teams, only an admin)
