Runway is an AI company, founded in 2018, whose web app generates and edits video, images and audio. Its own Gen-4.5 model turns a text prompt or an image into clips of 2 to 10 seconds at 720p, which can be upscaled to 4K, and the same credit balance covers third-party models such as Kling 3.0, Seedance 2.5 and Nano Banana Pro. Aleph 2.0 in Edit Studio changes existing footage from a prompt, for example swapping a background, relighting a shot or removing an object, and Act-Two transfers a recorded performance to a character. Text to speech uses models such as Eleven v3, with custom voice clones from the Pro plan. Free gives 125 one-time credits; Standard costs $15 a month for 625 credits, Pro $35 and Max $95. Plugins bring Runway into Premiere Pro, After Effects and DaVinci Resolve Studio.
Best for
Filmmakers, video editors and marketers who want short AI-generated shots and prompt-based edits of existing footage, and who are comfortable assembling longer videos from many clips.

- The Free plan's 125 credits are one-time, Free videos carry a Runway watermark, and Free accounts cannot buy more credits
- Each generation is a short clip (Gen-4.5: 2 to 10 seconds at 720p; Seedance 2.5: up to 30 seconds), so longer videos are assembled from many clips
- Monthly credits on Standard and Pro expire at each billing date; rolling over up to a month of credits starts with Max
- Custom voice clones start on the Pro plan ($35 a month): 1 on Pro, up to 3 on Max
- Runway may use your inputs and outputs to train its models; "no training on your data" is listed for Enterprise only
