Meta AI is Meta's AI chat assistant, introduced in September 2023. It answers questions, helps write and edit text, searches the web and writes research reports, reads uploaded photos, documents, PDFs and spreadsheets, creates and edits images, and holds voice conversations in 13 languages. It runs in the Meta AI app for iOS and Android, on meta.ai, and inside WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and Facebook.
Meta AI is free for everyday use within a daily limit, with Instant and Thinking modes built on Meta's Muse Spark model. Meta One Core ($7.99 a month) adds more AI usage and the Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp Plus features; Meta One Premium ($19.99 a month) adds a larger image and video allowance. Both bill monthly through the App Store or Google Play and are in limited testing. Meta's AI terms say your AI interactions are used to personalize ads and improve AI at Meta.
Best for
People who already use WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook or Messenger and want a free assistant inside those apps, with a $7.99 Meta One upgrade for more image and video creation.
