Lovable is an AI app builder from a Stockholm company founded in 2023 as GPT Engineer. You describe an app in a chat, and it writes the code for the interface, backend, database, login and integrations, then hosts it. It runs in the browser, as a desktop app for macOS and Windows, and on iOS and Android. Build mode explores your project, edits across files and can check changes with browser testing and tests; Plan mode drafts a plan you approve first. New apps use TanStack Start with a PostgreSQL database, and two-way Git sync with GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket works on every plan.
Lovable picks the AI model for building. Free gives 5 build credits a day, up to 30 a month. Pro starts at $25 a month for 100 credits ($21 a month billed yearly) and Business at $50 a month, priced by credits, not seats.
Best for
Founders, product managers and designers who want a working full-stack web app from a plain-language description, and developers who want a fast start they can keep editing through Git sync.
Pros
- Builds a full-stack web app from a chat: interface, backend, database, login and hosting in one place
- Two-way Git sync with GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket on every plan, so developers can keep editing in their own IDE
- Build mode can check its work with browser testing, frontend tests and edge function tests, mostly when you ask
- Free plan with 5 build credits a day (up to 30 a month) and 20 Cloud credits a month for hosting and the built-in backend
- Priced by credits, not seats: every plan allows unlimited workspace members
Cons
- You cannot choose the AI model for building; Lovable picks it
- One fixed stack (TanStack Start, or React + Vite for older apps, with PostgreSQL) and web apps only: no Next.js, no native mobile apps
- Build mode is billed on the work done, with no upfront estimate, so a long task can use many credits
- On Free the code editor is read-only and downloading the whole codebase needs a paid plan (Git sync works on Free)
- Since September 9, 2026, Free and Pro content may be used for model training unless each user opts out
