Google Antigravity is Google's agentic development platform, launched in public preview in November 2025. It began as an AI-powered IDE with an Agent Manager. In May 2026 Google added the Antigravity App, a separate desktop app built around agents: they work in projects, hand subtasks to concurrent subagents, can be started on a schedule and report through artifacts such as plans, diffs and browser recordings. There is also a CLI (agy), the standalone Antigravity IDE, a Python SDK, and extensions for VS Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains, Zed and Xcode.

The agent runs Gemini models plus Claude and GPT-OSS models, depending on the plan. The individual plan is free with weekly rate limits; Google AI Pro ($19.99 a month) and Google AI Ultra ($99.99 or $199.99 a month) raise the limits. Organizations get it through Gemini Enterprise, from $30 per seat a month, or pay by usage on Google Cloud.

Best for

Developers who want to hand tasks to agents from a desktop app, the terminal or their current editor, especially those who already pay for Google AI Pro or Ultra or whose company uses Gemini Enterprise on Google Cloud.

Pros

  • Free individual plan with unlimited Tab completions and Command requests, plus agent use within weekly limits
  • One sign-in covers the desktop app, the CLI and extensions for VS Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains, Zed and Xcode
  • Agents hand subtasks to concurrent subagents in isolated Git worktrees, can run on a schedule, and show plans, multi-file diffs and browser recordings for review
  • In the desktop app on macOS and Linux, agent terminal commands run in an OS-level sandbox by default, with no network access unless you allow it
  • Claude Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5 are available next to Gemini models on paid Google AI Pro and Ultra plans

Cons

  • Gemini 4 Argon and the Claude 5.5 models need a paid Google AI Pro (not a trial), Ultra or Gemini Enterprise plan; Free and Google AI Plus do not include them
  • The free plan's Claude 4.6 and GPT-OSS models are listed for removal on November 2, 2026, leaving Gemini 3.8 Flash
  • On individual plans the terms say Google records your interactions, uses them to improve its products and may have staff review them; Settings lets you change how that data is used
  • Usage runs on weekly rate limits (plus five-hour windows on Pro and Ultra) that Google says may change; past them you wait or, on Pro and Ultra, spend AI credits
  • The standalone Antigravity IDE has no Gemini 4 Argon and is not supported for Gemini Enterprise; those need the App, the CLI or an extension
