BigCommerce is a hosted ecommerce platform founded in 2009 and headquartered in Austin, Texas; it is one of three brands of Commerce, alongside Feedonomics and Makeswift. Its native storefront uses Stencil themes: you place drag-and-drop widgets in Page Builder, and developers can edit the theme's Handlebars, SCSS and JavaScript files with the Stencil CLI. There is no free plan; the 15-day free trial needs no credit card.
Since June 1, 2026 the US plans are Core, Growth and Scale at $29, $79 and $299 a month billed yearly, or $39, $105 and $399 month to month; Performance is custom-priced from $1,499 a month, billed yearly. Core and Growth upgrade automatically above $30K and $100K of trailing 12-month GMV, and Scale charges 0.9% on GMV above $33,333 a month. On those three plans, orders paid through providers outside BigCommerce's Embedded list carry a BigCommerce fee of 2.0%, 1.0% or 0.6%.
Best for
Product-focused online stores that want a hosted platform with editable theme code and that will take payments through one of BigCommerce's Embedded Payment Providers, which avoids the extra order fee.
